#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Something big is brewing in Trenton, N.J., and it could blow at any minute.

Stephanie Plum might not be the world’s greatest bounty hunter, but she knows when she’s being played. Ken Globovic (aka Gobbles), hailed as the Supreme Exalted Zookeeper of the animal house known as Zeta fraternity, has been arrested for beating up the dean of students at Kiltman College. Gobbles has missed his court date and gone into hiding. People have seen him on campus, but no one will talk. Things just aren’t adding up, and Stephanie can’t shake the feeling that something funny is going on at the college—and it’s not just Zeta fraternity pranks.

As much as people love Gobbles, they hate Doug Linken. When Linken is gunned down in his backyard it’s good riddance, and the list of possible murder suspects is long. The only people who care about finding Linken’s killer are Trenton cop Joe Morelli, who has been assigned the case, security expert Ranger, who was hired to protect Linken, and Stephanie, who has her eye on a cash prize and hopefully has some tricks up her sleeve.

The fanfiction writers are much better and they put MUCH more effort into their writing
By Susan
I can honestly say this is the last time I am fooled. Same old recycled scenes, with mistakes on basic tenets of the series. Rangeman is in a 7 story building (not 9 story), Ranger's office is on the 5th floor (not the 3rd). I'm tired of this. Just STOP, Janet. The fanfiction writers are much better and they put MUCH more effort into their writing. DO NOT BUY this book if you are a BABE. Ranger is barely in it. Only thing I can figure is Evanovich has enough money now and is tired of writing. She really killed a good series. I AM DONE.

Disappointed
By Janet L. Zickler
Like a lot of us, I was hoping for Ranger, Ranger and more Ranger. I was excited when Morelli seemed to remove himself from the picture. But that didn't happen. This is just the same story line with different cases to solve. I'm not wasting any more money on this series.

Not Worth It
By Amazon Customer
I've been hanging on to this series for the last few years in hopes that it would return to its former glory (right around book 12 or 13) but sadly this is the end. To be honest, I was expecting to be disappointed but when Evanovich opened the story with the conflict between Morelli and Stephanie I had some hope that this story was not copied and pasted from the last 10 books. Maybe something other than Stephanie's inability to choose between two sexy, at-odds, law enforcement men would not be the focus of the book! Maybe for once, one of the guys will step up and draw the line or Stephanie will put her big girl panties on and choose. It was endearing and understandable in the beginning but now the theme of indecision is tired if not dead. The story ends the same way it has ended for the few books. Morelli doesn't change at all and I was kind of excited and intrigued by what he could be up to if we wasn't a police officer or with Stephanie Plum. Ranger has zero charisma in this book which is a waste of his mysterious and thrilling background.

The plot of the book was ridiculous. Stephanie used to get involved in hilarious adventures that were plausible because she was so clumsy and desperate and in New Jersey, the Capital of Weirdness. I think Evanovich is running out of stories for our bounty hunter because she for the last two books (SPOILER ALERT) she has been using terrorism and now bioterrorism. These are serious crimes on a national level. It's not funny because Stephanie is so far out of her depth that there is no way for her to actually stay ahead. The villain is also, for lack of better word, stupid. I miss the gangbangers, the deadly funeral directors, and psychotic gamers. In the past, Trenton and the people living there, provided a rich environment for crazy criminals but now it is a dull background with boring and predictable interactions.

Lula and the gang of supporting characters can't help this book. I'm pretty sure that Lula has actually been copied and pasted for the last 5 books. Vinnie isn't remotely funny. Grandma can't even make me laugh! I feel like we have been beat over the head with these character traits for the last few books. The only thing we know for sure is Lula is a big woman with a lot of personality, big appetite, and promiscuous out look on life. Come on, this woman is a former ho! In the beginning she at least had spark and fire but I can't remember the last time she had development. Lula's lack of development is a huge loss. Grandma likes funerals, men and big guns. We get it. Ranger and Morelli are hot and Stephanie can't choose between them. Fine we get it but it's Plum's loss.

Stephanie hasn't changed at all. I'm not saying she has to be a badass bounty hunter or become better at everything but she has to make choices. Choices drive a character's development and she has made none of them. She literally muddles through crises as they come up and then goes back to whatever she was doing before . After 22 books and countless adventures she would make a bad mentor to anyone in the bounty hunting business. She could have been hilarious in a teaching role.

Sadly I bought this book in Kindle format at 13.99. For the first time I wish I could I could return a Stephanie Plum book.

Resisting Happiness, by Matthew Kelly

A true story about why we sabotage ourselves, feel overwhelmed, set aside our dreams, and lack the courage to simply be ourselves... and how to start choosing happiness again!

Are you happy? It may be the wrong question. Most of us think we are relatively happy, while at the same time knowing that we could be happier -- maybe even a lot happier. Ordinary people and the finest philosophers have been exploring the question of happiness for thousands of years, and theories abound. But this is not a book of theory. Resisting Happiness is a deeply personal, disarmingly transparent look at why we sabotage our own happiness and what to do about it.

Are you overwhelmed? Do you procrastinate? Do you sometimes feel like you are your own worst enemy? Are you ignoring your dreams? Have you lost the courage to truly be yourself? Do you feel that your life lacks meaning and purpose? Do you find yourself avoiding the real issues in your life and focusing on the superficial?

We all experience these feelings and doubts from time to time. But do you know what to do when you experience them? In this fascinating book, Matthew Kelly, uses his signature combination of the profound and the practical, to help us understand why we feel these things and how to rise above them.
Breaking through resistance, Kelly tells us, is essential to becoming the-best-version-of-ourselves and living with passion and purpose.

What is resistance? It's that sluggish feeling of not wanting to do something that you know is good for you. It's the inclination to do something that you unabashedly know is not good for you. It's the desire and tendency to delay something you should be doing right now.

It is resistance that stands between you and happiness. In these pages you will learn not only what it is, but how to recognize and conquer it in your own life.

Memoirs of An Unfit Mother, by Anne Robinson

Who is Anne Robinson?
She's the notorious grand inquisitor of the television sensation The Weakest Link. She's the first woman in nearly half a century to host a prime-time game show. She's the highest-paid female journalist in British history. She warrants fan mail and death threats, fear and loathing, unqualified admiration and unabashed hatred....
But what you don't know about the Host from Hell could fill a book.
From pioneering journalist to overnight pop-culture phenomenon, Anne Robinson tells all with the same bar-nothing candor that won her the honor of "rudest woman on TV" (Britain's TVTimes). But now Anne Robinson trains her steely-eyed focus on her own past. With unblinking honesty she shares the events of her formative upbringing by a sensitive father and a driven, hardworking mother who was "part magic, part monster." With unreserved pride she reveals the headline-making battles to carve out her own career as a journalist, a controversial consumer reporter, and a BBC anchor -- a calling that took its toll on a troubled marriage and a sensational, highly publicized custody battle.
And with biting humor, Anne Robinson explores what brought her to her latest level of infamy: the autocratic style, withering glance, and stinging lash of the lady in black, landing her in the unique position of being both the most popular and unpopular television personality in history.
This is Anne Robinson. Are you game?

From Publishers Weekly
Dubbed the "Queen of Mean," Robinson, host of the popular television game show The Weakest Link, is known as much for her icy demeanor, acerbic insults and severe appearance as for launching the ubiquitous, lilting catchphrase "good-bye." As Robinson lets down her seemingly impenetrable guard here, the only thing listeners may find familiar during the lengthy reading is her trademark clipped British accent and straightforward, flat delivery. She discusses her childhood with a fiercely independent, impatient mother she describes as "part monster, part magic" and a kind, passive father she's only come to fully appreciate after his death; then details the lessons and values of her upbringing that led to her ambitious nature and unrelenting desire for fame. In her 20s, she worked as a Fleet Street journalist, and in 1968 she married editor Charlie Wilson, but quickly realized she'd "misjudged a husband on a grand scale." Her recounting of their divorce and the ensuing custody battle over Robinson's only child results in long passages covering courtroom accusations of adultery, tales of her admitted alcoholism and the high emotional toll her loss of custody cost. But she lightens the tone when she speaks of breaking into radio and television, a successful second marriage and her eventual sobriety. It may be just hardcore fans who are willing to make the time commitment to this production they may also be the only ones who will be able to see Robinson in a sympathetic light. Simultaneous release with the Pocket Books hardcover.

From Library Journal
Known as the "rudest woman on TV," Robinson was imported from Britain along with her show, The Weakest Link, as the latest entry in outrageous programming for prime-time American viewers. Her acerbic remarks and cutting putdowns are part of the draw that brings people back to watch this red-haired harpy, dressed all in black, week after week. With an amazing degree of honesty, here Robinson recounts the formative events of her life, which included a gentle but passive father and a domineering and determined mother who dragged the family into the wake of her unrelenting ambition for wealth and social position. To the author's credit, her mother instilled this same ambition and craving for fame and success in her daughter, along with a need for alcohol. In her 20s, Robinson became a Fleet Street journalist; in 1968, she married Charlie Wilson, who worked for the same publication, but he was on the male fast track to becoming an editor. What followed was an abusive marriage, her drinking, and a resultant custody battle with no holds barred. Along the way, Robinson shares her view of the 1960s, the women's movement, and the royal family, including the phenomenon of Princess Diana. The excruciating detail, pontificating assessment of the British monarchy, and the downright monotony of destructive behavior in one person's life make for a torturous listening experience. Only diehard fans of Robinson will find this even mildly interesting. Not recommended for smaller public libraries and a marginal purchase, at best, for larger ones. New York Post Brilliant.

The Observer (London) This is no ordinary memoir....A crackling, unsentimental good read.... A book that revolutionizes the celebrity autobiography.

Delightful!
By Karlis Streips
I always watch "The Weakest Link" here in Europe with sort of a fist in my mouth - how can that woman be so horrible to people, and what an utter delight it is when someone gets one up on her. This biography talks not only about the way in which a truly dedicated woman got to the top of her field, but also about the way in which this "unfit mother" really did turn out to be a wonderful mother, with a wonderful daughter and with a wonderful relationship with said daughter. I suppose that Anne Robinson must be feeling sort of like Boris Karloff these days - he wasn't really Frankenstein's monster, and she isn't really the iron-fisted dominatrix of the television show. I read every word with great pleasure, and I recommend the book to everyone. The reason for four instead of five stars is that there are about three paragraphs in the whole book about "The Weakest Link". I really would have wanted to hear a lot more about the author's thoughts about what is a phenomenal show. Other than that, though, it was a great, great read.

I have listened to this book on CD's not once but twice. Anne Robinson reads her work and does it with wit, sadness, honesty, and intelligence.
She pulled out all stops and doesn't give herself any slack. I found myself laughing in parts and even crying in parts. She talks about her life from childhood to the present and her success on The Weakest Link.
She's my hero!

Honest and brave
By ELI (Italy)
Anne Robinson was the weakest link in her own life matters for a very long time.

Her autobiography, which I've only read recently and is probably a bit outdated by now, is written as one would expect her to, a sort of mirror image of the character we are used to watch on TV. Lucid, cool, a bit acerbic with a hint of dark humour. And yet, here we discover the other side of the story.

After an honest description of her Irish family and background, Anne takes us through a journey describing her life in England as a journalist, young spouse, mother, divorcée and, eventually, the spiral leading her to be hopelessly alcohol dependant. A drunk. The wound, immense, of having had her young daughter Emma, then aged two, taken away from her. We see her struggling and eventually coming to terms with her addiction, a years-long battle made even worse by the raw knowledge of loss. Loss of Emma's custody, loss of her work, loss of self-respect. Loss. But she struggles. And survives. And gets better and better. She marries again and a new life starts, the wheel finally turning in the right direction.

This is also an interesting insight of the struggle of women in 1940's Ireland and 1960's England, despite feminism starting to take off back then.

Back to Ms. Robinson, I am glad that her ordeal and battles against her alcohol addiction were successful and that throughout it all, she was able to retain Emma's love and respect, the most precious gift of all. Definitely NOT the weakest link any longer, well done.

Exercises in Architecture: Learning to Think as an Architect, by Simon Unwin

Architecture is a doing word. You can learn a great deal about the workings of architecture through analysing examples but a fuller understanding of its powers and potential comes through practice, by trying to do it...

This book offers student architects a series of exercises that will develop their capacity for doing architecture. Exercises in Architecture builds on and supplements the methodology for architectural analysis presented in the author’s previous book Analysing Architecture (third edition, Routledge, 2009) and demonstrated in his Twenty Buildings Every Architect Should Understand (Routledge, 2010). The three books taken together deal with the three aspects of learning: description, analysis of examples, and practice.

The book offers twelve exercises, each divided into a short series of tasks aimed at developing a particular theme or area of architectural capacity. The exercises deal with themes such as place-making, learning through drawing, framing, light, , uses of geometry, stage setting, eliciting emotional responses, the genetics of detail and so forth.

Review

'Having assured many students that there are no quick fix injections or architectural jabs available, I have previously extolled the benefits to be derived from a prolonged course of general architectural physiotherapy. From now on I will be more than happy to specifically prescribe Exercises in Architecture.'

Simon Hacker, Lecturer in Architecture at Newcastle University, UK

'By way of a series of written observations, Simon Unwin demonstrates some of the most basic lessons of architecture. With his elegantly drawn examples paired with simple notebook exercises for the reader, Unwin creates a text that interweaves reading, looking, thinking, and making into a series of self-discoveries. This book will challenge both beginning designers and accomplished professionals alike.'

Peter Wong, Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, USA

"Simon Unwin has written the perfect book for all those who have often wondered how architects design. Clear, informative exercises take you through everyday basic design problems architects face when conceiving and developing a building. Exercises in Architecture is a must-have textbook for any university that offers an Understanding Architecture course, for high schools that have design-focused programs, and for any person generally interested in understanding the architectural design process."

Charles P. Graves, Associate Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at Kent State University, USA

'Exercises in Architecture is an extraordinarily accessible text that takes on a great many sophisticated topics fundamental to architectural understanding. The clarity of Unwin’s writing and his superbly crafted drawings will be refreshing and inspiring to both students and faculty. I especially appreciate the attention placed on the process of developing one’s ability to "do" architecture, and the real necessity of using a sketchbook in this process.'

Matthew T. Brehm, Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Idaho, USA

Outstanding text. Tiny type.
By jgfw
Great book by a great author. Do keep in mind, however, that in order to maintain elegant page layouts, the text was set with unnecessarily small - no, tiny - type, making it a bit of a chore to read. Pity.

DRM sucks. First and last time.
By Luca
Book could be good if I could actually read it. I didn't know about DRM policy and it's so annoying. DON'T BUY IT. Thanks Amazon, usually I am satisfied of shopping with you but NEVER EVER kindle format anymore.

Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful
By Michael Dawson
I had forgotten how utterly splendid this series really is. Where many series tend to jump the shark after 3 or four installments, The Traitors Sun Cycle just maintains a compelling narrative and continues to develop the characters we have all grown to love. Somehow Miles Cameron takes us into the minutiea of the physical constraints of the period (armor, shipboard travel etc) without being dull. On the contrary, the detail helps ground the fantastic elements of the story and is a constant reminder of the personal elements of the story.

I will definitely buy the next book in the series. BTW, I also bought the audio book version and it is a joy to listen to.

Keeps getting Better
By Brad B.
I was getting close to the end of this book, and I spent a fair bit of time considering if I could remember another series where I had no doubt that each book was better than the previous one. Mr Cameron is growing in skill, learning to polish his weak spots to the point where he can pull off multiple character threads without missing a beat...and have some turn out as engaging as the primary.

Really can't recommend this enough...only thing I didn't like was how I seemed to really struggle keeping names/characters straight. Re-reading the prior books would certainly have helped, but a few more timely memory nudges would have been appreciated...

WOW - just an AMAZING series!
By C. Brandon
The pace is so much faster than in the first two books, but the Red Knight marches on. Cameron manages to keep the suspense going while maintaining the realistic feel of an army on the move.

Having defeated Thorn in the Wild north of Alba, the combined armies need to regroup. From there, the struggle to create alliances and resupply the weary troops are balanced against the need to gather intelligence. Challenging circumstances, but a host of the well developed characters from prior books assist Ser Gavin in facing each task and keeping him human at the same time. Clever, stirring, and funny at various times, the dialogue is as good as ever. Mark my words!

Most authors just assume that logistical and leadership challenges are met, but Cameron shows the details required to command. He's just writing on a higher level than so many other writers, even those who specialize in military fiction.

Hopefully, he will receive the recognition he deserves as he continues the Traitor Son books!
